On a grey chilly morning, 10 Ramblers and 2 guests set off from Bisley, walking through the school yard, past the church and down the steep steps to the bottom of the village. We entered the fields, climbing to a lane, then across more fields on the top of the hill with views over the Toadsmoor valley. On approaching Eastcombe we headed downhill then along a track with sheep fields on either side where the hill dropped steeply down into the valley on our right, with views of woods going steeply up the other side and eventually a glimpse of Toadsmoor Lake at the bottom. We descended to the lake, crossed by a bridge to the other side of the valley and enjoyed lunch by the lake. We followed the wooded track back to Bisley negotiating several flooded streams.
