On a misty, moisty morning 11 members set off through the churchyard and back streets of Painswick, climbing towards Painswick House, then entering fields in front of the Roccoco Gardens, following the undulating landscape towards Holcombe and admiring the valley views. We joined a lane, passing Holcombe Farm and paused for a coffee stop in front of Holcombe House. We then continued across fields and woodland to reach a panorama of land between Gloucester and Cheltenham. We followed the Wysis Way up onto Painswick Beacon where we enjoyed our lunch on the crest of the hill, where the weather, although not sunny, was clear enough for us to admire the 360 degree views. We then continued down over the golf course and besides the quarry on the Cotswold Way to return to Painswick.
