On Sunday 5th November, a group of 16 Ramblers set out on a 6.4 mile walk amidst beautiful scenery in the Yanworth area. The weather was mostly dry, and at the start was gloriously sunny.
The walk followed stretches of the Monarch’s Way and MacMillan Way, and started at the lay by near Hangman’s stone on the old A40 west of Northleach. We headed downhill and along a valley bottom to near Hampnett before climbing back uphill and across the old A40.
We continued to the edge of Stowell Park where a coffee break was taken, before continuing downhill and across fields to Yanworth Mill. We climbed uphill again to the village of Yanworth and had our lunch break in Yanworth churchyard. The church itself was very attractive, and had a squat tower. In the churchyard were a number of gravestones in memory of the Vestey family, owners of Stowell Park and the village of Yanworth.
We continued across fields, passing by Oxpens Farm, before returning to the strting point of the walk.
