On Sunday 18th June after a week of hot and humid weather, we were not surprised that it was a small group of 6 for this walk.
From Harford Bridge we followed the Windrush Way through meadows and woods to arrive eventually at the delightful Aston Mill, where the cottage gardens were in full bloom and we lingered for the scent of roses.
From there we followed bridleways to Lower Slaughter and then by footpath towards its Upper neighbour. A welcome breeze under some oak trees with a view of the Lords of the Manor hotel provided an impromptu lunch break before continuing to the village and a look at the church.
Upper of course is all relative because the route from there was definitely uphill but at least the breeze was back and the views over the villages allowed a cooling off stop. After crossing the B road the return route was along a minor lane and downhill to our starting point. We made it without the forecast thunder storms and before all our water ran out – definitely a warm walk that one!
