On a Sunday 21st August, a perfect day for walking, 20 ramblers started a 4.5 mile ramble from Chedworth Roman Villa’s overflow car park in the woods. They went  through a wooden gate onto the Monarch’s Way.

The first part of the ramble took them uphill passing oaks and ancient beech trees. At the top of the hill they turned left along arable fields with views of the mansion house of Stowell Park.  At this point which was roughly hallway they turned down into the woodland and down to a road. They then followed a ‘private road’ (footpath only) alongside the River Coln and finally back up the Chedworth entry lane to return to the car park. 

Everyone wanted to stay a bit longer so Steve gave an hour long  private tour of Chedworth Roman Villa with all staying after to take advantage of a National Trust cream tea.
