12 members did a 5 mile walk on a slightly overcast warm morning, the early morning light rain had cleared before the start
Beginning from the Upper Castle Coombe Car Park our route to the village was briefly on a footpath by the edge of the golf course, and then down a stony path to enter the village through the Arch, to walk down the picturesque High Street.

Looking at the rooftops, we found it is true the village does not permit TV aerials.

The River Bybrook is 12 miles (19 km) long, from north of Castle Combe to join the Bristol Avon at Bathford . We followed the river for almost 2 miles, from the bridge in the High Street and then on a footpath to reach the village of Ford, on the A420, East Bristol to Chippenham road.   En route a  coffee break was taken at Long Dean, just past the Mill.

The return route started with a very long incline at Danks Down and then, after crossing the road, downhill through Beckers Wood.

The countryside views were wonderful, for the most part without a building in sight
