On Sunday 14th November 2021, Remembrance Sunday, a party of 27 members went on a 6 mile walk from Tetbury to Shipton Mill. The weather was cloudy but dry and mild, as the group set off from the Goods Shed car park in Tetbury.

 On leaving the wooded area surrounding the Goods Shed, the walk turned left at Wiltshire Bridge along the B4014, past the entrance to Tetbury Hospital before continuing along a path, eventually leading to some farm buildings. We then crossed a number of fields before entering the attractive village of Long Newnton. Here, we listened to a short Remembrance reading from Mike Bailey before observing a minute’s silence.

 We then continued through Long Newnton, diverting along a walled footpath, a lane and a small field through a squeeze gate before crossing the B4014 and heading across fields to a wooded area, and following a track to Shipton Mill where we had a lunch stop.

 We retraced our steps for about 200 yards before continuing along a permissive footpath along the edge of Shipton Wood before turning right up a green lane, following the edge of Estcourt Park to return to Long Newnton. On re-crossing the B4014, we walked through the village before turning left along another green lane opposite the parish church.

 This took us back to the B4014, and we followed the road along a footpath, passing an amusing wooden sculpture on top of a tree house, before re-entering Tetbury and returning to the starting point of the walk.
