On a grey day 18 walkers left the Speech House Woodlands car park for a 10 mile long walk and a 7 mile short walk.

 Passing through the Cyril Hart Arboretum we soon arrived at Speech House Lake where we stopped for a morning break.

 We continued through the woods towards The Barracks and crossed the road to Burnt Log. Descending into the Cannop valley we arrived at the end of the bottom Cannop Pond, followed the pond upto the picnic area and stopped for lunch.

The walk then continued around the top Cannop Pond and through the valley before climbing to Beechenhurst. This is where the two groups separated with the short walk continuing back to the car park. Those on the long walk continued through Beechenhurst Enclosure to Woorgreens Lake before returning back to the car park.
