On a cloudy but dry August Bank Holiday morning 30 ramblers met at Scrubditch Care Farm by kind permission of Emma Costly-White, founder and CEO of the charity.
The Care Farm gives people with learning difficulties, mental health issues and dementia, therapy, by working with animals and growing vegetables and flowers.
The ramblers set off down through woodland and across a field to North Cerney, pausing to see the new beehives. From the village a footpath along side the river Churn was followed to Perrots Brook. After crossing the Cheltenham road, the walkers followed a lane to Bagendon and Upper End. From here the walkers joined a footpath up an ascending path through the woods to Merchants Down. After a steep climb up through the fields and woodland they reached the lane to Woodmancote.
Then skirting the village, the group entered a field and followed a footpath back to the Care Farm, after walking about 6 miles. At the Care Farm ramblers very generously collected £200 in donations for the charity. Before the ramblers left for home they were shown around the Charity’s new site, seeing this year's lambs and meeting Manny the retired racehorse and the pigs.
