On Wednesday evening, 7th August, 20 members and 1 guest set off on a 3ΒΌ mile walk from Southrop in evening sunshine. Heading north up the River Leach valley we passed Coate Farm and then made use of some well marked footpaths and kissing gates as we made our way to Eastleach.
At Eastleach we crossed the river via the clapper bridge know as Keble's Bridge and stopped briefly at the Church of St Michael and St Martin's. We continued on our way back along the road taking the footpath near King's Hay crossing several fields before reaching the road again.
We then took the footpath alongside the river, which was adorned with wild flowers, before crossing several more fields to emerge on the road to the east of Southrop. Walking back through Southrop we stopped at the Swan Inn for a drink and chat in their garden.
