In pleasant summer weather, 19 members did a five mile walk in beautiful countryside, with extensive views. Particular features were butterflies in the meadows and the colour of barley fields alongside the paths
The upward route from Adlestrop to Chastleton via the Long Drive, used field and woodland paths plus a small amount of walking on quiet country lanes. A coffee break was taken near to Chastleton House. (Some of the group returned here in the afternoon to visit the property)
The downhill return to Adlestrop was on The Macmillian Way.
On reaching the bus shelter, which houses the old village railway platform sign, the second part of the walk was through the picturesque village and then past the cricket ground and down a meadow, before returning to the start on a footpath by Moreton Lake. Fortunately this footpath had been cleared of tall grass in the last four days, as the walk leader had found the path difficult to use when checking the walk earlier in the week
