On Sunday 14th April, a sunny but bright morning 23members and guests travelled to Bristol for a day of walking and sightseeing.
Starting from the downs they walked across to The Giant’s Cave in St Vincent’s Rocks in the Avon Gorge. Some members opted to go down the 130 steep steps to look out over the Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge. Others visited the Camera Obsucra and Museum at the same spot.
They then carried on to reach the Suspension Bridge with an opportunity for photos and a quick coffee stop. Crossing the bridge they had time to visit the relatively new Visitor’s Centre and Museum, giving the history of the bridge and the area.
Leaving the Museum the route took them through the suburbs of Clifton to reach Leigh Woods. After beautiful walk through the woods they eventually arrived at the Docks. Here most ramblers took the opportunity to visit the Harbourside Cafe for hot drinks and soup.
With the excellent walk at an end (huge thanks to Stuart & Sue for a lovely day), they were free to cross the ferry where a choice of shopping, visiting the Cathedral or Millennium Square awaited. Catching the bus they returned across the downs to their cars.
