On a pleasant dry and clear morning twelve members and a guest did a 4 mile walk from Stanton Country Park, which is a 185 acre park owned by Swindon Borough Council. It was a figure of eight walk, initially in the woods, and partly on the route of the Swindon to Highworth railway line (closed 1962)

On returning to the car park, the walk then passed through the Apple Orchard, where each tree has an information board, as each is a different variety, and then past the lake. A refreshment stop was taken on the path at the top of the lake. Soon after, the walk left the park on an uphill path to Stanton Fitzwarren. The return route was past Saint Leonards Church and Stanton House Hotel and then returning to the start on a park footpath through a field with many sheep and their young lambs

After the walk we had a very enjoyable lunch at the nearby Cold Harbour Inn.
