On a dry morning, starting from The Market Place in Northleach, seventeen members set off on an enjoyable five mile country walk with wide ranging views of the rolling hills

The route out was along the quiet Farmington Road, under the A40 road, and then on an uphill path to Bunkers Hill and onto The Green at Farmington, where we had a refreshment stop by the Old Pump House..

The route back was down a track after The Church of St Peter and then right to The Monarchs Way, on a path across a wheat field, and then downhill on the field’s perimeter path. Then a straight 1,000 metre path, downhill then uphill to reach the busy A40, which was crossed very carefully. Then past Eastington Lake, where we spied an egret, and through Upper End, to return to Northleach on a quiet road and through the park by the river

When built just after his death in 1898 it had a thatched roof but this was replaced with stone in 1935 by the people from Farmington, in Connecticut, USA
