A group of 20 Ramblers including 2 visitors set off from the cricket ground car park, at  Ampney Crucis, for a six-mile circular walk.

They went up across the fields to visit a friendly herd of alpacas and were given an impromptu talk from their handler. From here, they made their way to the quiet village of Ampney St Mary.

They left the village on the road, before joining the normally muddy Ashbrook Lane (an old name for Ampney St Mary) to Bell Lane in Poulton. The party then walked past the Public House to the church of St Michaels. They turned right, and made their way across their second cricket pitch of the day, towards the café at Poulton Priory.

After enjoying a refreshing break in the cold wind, they went through the Priory Estate to reach Charlam Lane. The Ramblers then followed this lane to Ampney St Peter. They crossed the A417 and visited the picturesque village, with its gold painted post box, before returning to the start at Ampney Crucis.
