On Thursday 6th October eleven members and guests (includng 3 from California) set off on a 5 mile walk from Bourton-on-the Water. The walk started on the Windrush Way following the River Windrush towards Aston Mill. Near the mill they turned off onto the Gloucestershire and Macmillan Ways towards the Slaughters, a corruption of an old English word for a wet or muddy place.
On reaching Upper Slaughter there was a short break and chance to look around the church. The walk continued on the Wardens Way following the River Eye to Lower Slaughter and a brief stop for ice cream!
Continuing initially on the Heart of England Way wthey picked up the Monarch’s Way back to Bourton where most of them enjoyed lunch in the Duke of Wellington pub.
