Starting opposite the red phone box at the Arlington end of Bibury, the group walked past the Catherine Wheel pub and turned right at Hawkers Hill. They continued down Awkward Hill past Arlington Row and crossed the River Coln.

Here they turned right to Church Road through Bibury village, passing the school and church.

On reaching the main road they crossed and turned right to take Packhorse Hill on the left.

The route continued on Packhorse Lane uphill past Hale Barn to the Salt Way. Then they turned left to reach Saltway Barn.

At this crossroads they turned left to make the long descent into Ablington. Following a zig zag of roads and lanes they reached the village, crossing the River Coln to reach Ablington Manor.

Turning left they then walked uphill on a busy lane before taking a footpath on the left and continued on paths to Arlington.

A quite hot day after a dismal start. They returned to Bibury for a welcome cup of tea with Cakes and Strawberries in Halina’s beautiful garden in Bibury. (Strawberry Tea Report in Events).
