May 8th Frampton on Severn

On Sunday 8^th May sixteen members met at the bottom end of Frampton on Severn on a beautiful sunny day, Fifteen did the 6.5 mile walk (one broke off at Saul to get home in time to see the Ladies Football) .

Having walked from the bottom end near the Church through the lovely village, with many really old Tudor houses and barns, we took a left along a footpath over stiles and across fields until we came to the canal with house boats on it, which led up to Saul Junction.

We crossed the bridge and continued down the lane to go right through a kissing gate to cross 3 fields which eventually brought us back to the Gloucestershire and Sharpness Canal where we had our lunch stop. It was perfect, watching the swing bridge opening and closing to allow boats and barges to continue up and down the canal.

We then walked over the swing bridge and turned left, then a right turn, which brought us to the front of Whitminster Church where our group photo was taken. Leaving there we walked down a driveway and onto fields, and eventually came out onto the Frampton road.

We crossed over into Frampton Court Park with its large lake and many geese and a few swans. We sat on long logs and had our tea stop enjoying the sunshine still.

Coming out of the park we crossed 3 fields near the sailing club and through the hedge to come to the back of houses in Frampton. We came out opposite the Lynch Gate leading back to the Church through a lovely avenue of horse chestnut trees and our cars.

Everyone thanked me for a lovely walk which makes leading all worth while.
