On Thursday 7th April, a group of 21 walkers assembled at Down Ampney Village Shop for a 4.5 mile walk. There were 4 visitors from other groups and one new member.

 We walked past the Old Rectory, where Ralph Vaughan Williams was born 150 years ago, and proceeded to Latton (with its 12 century church) for a short walk round the village.

 Back at the church we had a short refreshment stop before walking on to Down Ampney Church, where there is an RVW exhibition and several memorials (window, garden, kneelers) to the airmen who flew from Down Ampney airfield. Then on to the Memorial at the airfield remembering the men who took part in 1944-5, flying Dakotas towing Horsa gliders into Northern France. On the way back to the village shop we walked through a wood where a WW2 hospital had been.

 The weather stayed dry, but was a trifle cold and windy at times.
