A small group of six Cirencester Ramblers, two visitors and a local walk leader set off from the Pines Hotel for a longer walk.

The route climbed steadily around Ballard Down and up onto the Studland and Godlingston Heath nature reserve. The churchyard of the beautiful Norman church of St Nicholas in Studland made a pleasant lunchtime stop and then the walk continued on the South West Coast Path to Old Harry Rocks.  A strong wind from the east necessitated a slight diversion from the coast path before the descent back to Swanage.
