On Sunday 19th December, 20 members set out on a 6 mile walk from Burford. We crossed the River Windrush for the first time and made our way up through Fulbrook, which away from the main road, has some attractive Cotswold style cottages. As we made our way across fields to Widley Copse the blue sky gave way to an encircling mist.
After a short coffee stop we made our way past Payne's Farm and along lanes and tracks to Dean Bottom, a delightful little valley that leads down to St Oswald’s Church. We stopped to look around this mediaeval church with its wall paintings before continuing to the old mill at Widford and crossing the Windrush for the second time.
From Widford we walked along side the Windrush for much of the way back to Burford.
