Twenty four ramblers set off from Ampney Crucis village hall for a walk prior to their AGM.
The weather was bright and fresh, as they climbed over a stone stile to gain access to a path across grassy fields. The group stopped to admire the local Alpacas before emerging onto School Lane.
They went up to the Beech tree and turned down the main village street to find the Pound tree. From here they went up the track, past the new agriculture style houses, towards Ashsteeple hill.
They soon reached Holder’s lane- which is the site of an old farm once occupied by the family of one of the members. They continued walking on using lanes to Ampney St Mary - taking a break for drinks on the way.
The group went up through the village to visit the old Hill Oak Inn which closed many years ago. From there they climbed over a wall, using a wooden step stile, onto a path which was the subject of a diversion request in the past.
Next, they made the short walk towards Ampney St Peter. The party walked through horse paddocks, which led them back onto the lane towards Dudley Corner. At the top of the adjoining green lane, they picked up a well-used route through fields, and across school lane, to re-join the paths back to the stone stile. They soon arrived back at the village hall for lunch and their meeting.
