On the Group’s mid-week break in Torquay the first walk of the week was in the Coleton Fishacre area.

On a beautiful sunny autumn morning with hardly any wind, 28 members and guests started on a 4½ mile walk from the Broadstone car park down a quiet road towards the coastguard’s lookout point.

We passed the impressive Daymark, used to guide the ships to Dartmouth harbour. Veering off to the East we joined the South West Coast Path. Challenging in places the path gave us beautifully sea views, craggy cliffs and a calm sea catching a range of colours in the sunlight.

Passing Outer Forward Point and the bottom of Coleton Fishacre National Trust gardens we stopped in a grassy area on one of the high points of the path for a well-deserved break before continuing past Ivy Cove to Scabbacombe Head. From there we turned inland on a gently sloping path and the road back to the car park.
