Cirencester Ramblers

On Sunday 23rd May, a group of 20 Ramblers did a 6 mile walk between the villages of Cold Aston, Turkdean and Notgrove.

Starting at the Plough Inn in Cold Aston, the walk followed the Macmillan Way for about 2 miles, going through unspoilt downland countryside until Turkdean where we diverted for a brief coffee and photo stop in Turkdean churchyard.

We retraced our steps through the pretty village of Turkdean and continued for about another 2 miles along a country lane with fine views across open countryside, before reaching the Gloucestershire Way. Here we turned right, passing some glamping tents which are part of the Notgrove holiday village, before reaching Notgrove church where we had our lunch stop.

We then continued along the Gloucestershire Way, climbing out of the attractive village across a field before reaching a fine avenue of trees with 2 walking tracks for about a mile,.  Then a country lane took us back to the start of the walk.

Although the walk was muddy in places due to recent heavy rain, we managed to complete the walk in dry weather, and were even blessed with a fleeting glimpse of the sun during our lunch stop.
