Eleven members enjoyed a challenging 5 mile walk in the Valley of Rocks, near Lynton. From the lower car park we set off to climb Hollerday Hill, pausing on the way to enjoy the views of the valley. About halfway up the path circles around the seaward side of the hill to the site of Hollerday House. A brief pause for coffee then up again through the site of the old tennis court. We made our way to the top and the site of an iron age fort with wide ranging views of the coast and valley.

We descended to the town of Lynton before ascending again to the top of Southcliff. Near the top we stopped for the rest of any tea/coffee and snacks while enjoying a view of Hollerday Hill across the valley. Continuing along the top of Southcliff with stunning views of the valley and coast we eventually descended to Lee Abbey. Making our way back to the car park we pause briefly to look at the “White Lady” formed by a gap in the rocks. Back at the car we were greeted by a herd of goats before tea/coffee and cake in the tearoom.
