On Sunday 16th February in the aftermath of Storm Dennis 5 members of Cirencester Ramblers enjoyed "Andy's 6 Mile Walk from Stow". We left Stow on the Monarch's Way passing the "Stow Wells" as we made our way to Broadwell. The village has an unusual First World War Memorial and attractive church with tower. We continued on the Monarch's Way to Donnington and a short coffee stop in the bus shelter.

We decided to keep to the lanes avoiding the waterlogged fields while passing the site where the last Royalist field army was defeated at the Battle of Stow-on-the-Wold in 1646. We reached the River Dickler at Donnington Brewery and followed the Gloucestershire Way along the river to Upper Swell and back to Stow.
