Eight members and friends took the steady climb round up to the top of Milk Hill, near Alton Barnes, taking in some stunning views.  They were lucky with only a few showers after a heavy rain forecast.

 After  decending Milk Hill through a variety of cattle they saw two owl's nesting boxes. At beginning and near the end of the walk they saw a white horse cut out in the hill both facing left. There are 24 white horses in Britain, only 4 face left.

They then walked along the Kennet and Avon canal which has a total length of 87 miles. They left the canal at the Barge Inn which was built in 1810 to coincide with the opening of the canal, then stopped at Honey Street cafe for some refreshments out of the rain.

The group then followed the trail to Alton Priors church and then All Saints Church which is a Saxon 12th century church, and saw a Sarsen stone under a trap door indicating it was a pagan sacred site at one time and possibly part of a stone.

Outside in the churchyard they were able to walk inside the trunk of a yew tree which is said to be 1700 years old before making their way back to the start, enjoying the beautiful views on the way.
