After a rather wet and miserable sort of day seven members, including one from another group, set off from the Hare and Hounds at Westonbirt for our evening walk wondering if we would get caught by thunderstorms. It actually turned into a really pleasant evening with no rain in sight, which meant we had lovely clear views across the countryside.

Crossing the main road we headed past Westonbirt School with good views of the fine buildings and the village houses. We continued up the public footpath which runs in a valley through the middle of the Arboretum, passing under the Sky Bridge. We then picked up the Monarch’s Way behind the Arboretum, through pastureland with horses and cattle grazing, enjoying other wildlife as we went.

Returning to the start point we had time to have a convivial chat in Harry Hares before heading home.
