On a bright winters morning nineteen members and 2 guests did a six and a half mile walk, starting from the centre of Bibury and followed the River Coln to another pretty village, Coln St Aldwyns.  This route passed the grounds of Bibury Court and then through Oxhill Wood, leaving over a small footbridge and turning left to follow the river.  We entered the village by passing the Mill House and the Almshouses and took a refreshment break on the seats around a tree, opposite the village shop.

The route back was a 2 mile walk on The Salt Way, with excellent countryside views, notable for not seeing any buildings in the distance, other than when crossing the B4425.  At first the walk was on wide grass verges by the roadside, and then wide paths on grass, giving a very good surface for winter walking.

A Salt Road is a historical route for the transportation of salt and this particular route was probably used to take salt from Cheshire to Lechlade (where it was taken to London by boat on the Thames).
