Cirencester Ramblers

16 members have just enjoyed a 4-night stay in hotels in Torquay for our October mid-week break.  Arriving on Monday most of us got together for dinner and entertainment. Most of us headed off on the bus to Brixham the next day for a 5.5 mile walk along the coast path to Berry Head and a welcome stop at the café there.  We then headed back into Brixham, down the hill via the coast path again, which this time mainly followed the road, where some of us enjoyed exploring the town and harbour further.  Later the more energetic of us took to the dance floor after dinner for an evening’s entertainment.

There were no planned walks on Wednesday so groups of us headed off in various directions.  Some went cycling, others took some time for retail therapy and a waterfront Guiness bar.  Dartmouth was explored, National Trust properties and heritage railways enjoyed before convening back at our hotels for the evening.

It was back to walking the next morning for most of us – though a couple had arranged other things.  This time the walk started north of Torquay at Babbacombe. This was a 6.5-7 mile walk back along the coast path to Torquay. A couple of interesting paths but great sea views.  Some of us finished at the café at Meadfoot beach while the rest of us continued along the coast path into Torquay.  Much fun was had by all, even though the more intrepid of us did get soaked at the end of the walk.

Returning to our hotels for a pleasant evening, we headed home the next day having enjoyed a great break with good food, great company with lots of laughs and lovely walking (a big thank you to Kathy and Marian for leading).
