On Monday 8th October 27 members and guests started the annual 4 night break, "A Taste of the West Country", at the Toorak Hotel in Torquay. The mid-week break was filled with walks and events to entertain those attending. On Tuesday and Thursday there were morning walks (see walk reports) and a Devonshire Cream Tea (Tuesday afternoon) and cheese and cider tasting (Thursday afternoon). Wednesday was a free day so those attending could explore the area on their own. The hotel is part of a leisure complex with free night time entertainment, swimming pools, steam room, sauna and games rooms. An impromptu session of ten pin bowling kept about 20 of us occupied after the cider tasting, which might have had an adverse effect on the scores! Some went on to play a table tennis tournament.
