Much to our surprise 12 Ramblers managed to successfully dodge the rain on our 4 mile mid week walk.
Using the Groups Self Guided Walk 11, and starting from Chedworth Villa Woodland car park we headed into Stowell Park Estate following the river Coln. We had to stop for a while to watch a tree being cleared and chopped up. The speed and efficiency with which this was done was impressive.
Resuming the walk we took a path up a pretty valley coming out onto open farmland. The walk took paths through the crops until we stopped for a short break, enjoying views of Chedworth village. Heading into the village we passed the pub and church before walking up another grassy valley to the top once more. Here we had wide ranging views across the countryside. Heading down hill once again we entered the woods above the Villa, returning on a path that took us right by it.
Some of us couldn't resist stopping for a snack on our way past. We would like to thank the National Trust at Chedworth for allowing us to use their overflow car park.
