Despite the fog that enveloped the whole route of our walk, I was surprised and pleased to welcome 11 other hardy ramblers and 1 guest. We walked through Minchinhampton past the church and market place then across country to enter the village of Box. We then joined Minchinhampton Common for about a mile, then down the hill to Pinfarthings and Amberley, after which we rejoined the common and headed for the Bear Inn. At this point we turned around and followed the common on the north side, where we encountered some friendly shaggy horses. We continued along the common until our cars appeared out of the mist. Luckily there was no wind so it was not too cold and the rain more or less held off. I think everyone was pleased to get out on a January day.
