October 5th Bisley

Five Ramblers set off from Bisley Cricket Ground Car Park on a 6.5 mile walk on quite a bright morning. We turned left out of the car park and walked along a track leading to views of good open fields and over towards Througham Slad on the opposite hillside. We came out onto a lane and continued down for some way before going over a stile on the right and up a steep field with again great views behind us where we a had our group photo taken. We then carried on through a tree lined track that led us out to a right turn and up a path all the way to open fields, looking across at Bisley Church.

When we came to another road junction, we crossed straight over down a track that led us through a gate and to the side of the valley which has part of Bisley village on the far right. Carrying on down the valley we came onto a road, after a short distance we went right through a gate and again down to the valley bottom, carrying on until we could go through a gate on the right hedge line, where we sat just inside this field with its good view of a Manor House in Lypiatt Park and ate our lunch. The weather had changed for a short while giving us some drizzle. After we carried on down the hillside coming out onto a lane, where we turned left and soon turned right down through a wood keeping to a path that took us to a little hamlet of Kitlye where we turned right and right again to make our way up through Hawkley Woods, eventually coming into the lower end of Bisley over a stream and back up through Bisley passing the Wishing Wells, at which every year they have a Flower Dressing Ceremony. This year on the 29th May they were blessed by the Bishop of Gloucester, the Rev Rachael Treweek. Soon after walking further up the village we were back at our cars.

Everyone thanked me for the walk saying how much they had enjoyed it.
