On a warm but initially overcast morning 12 Rambler members set off from the Bathurst Arms, North Cerney for a 4.5 mile moderate walk, with lovely countryside views.  We followed the River Churn along the valley to start with, through open fields, passing the stable block of Rendcomb College before walking through the village.  Taking to the fields again in a very pretty parallel valley, we crossed a stream via some stepping stones before heading up the hill to the Whiteway.  Turning off the road almost immediately we followed the Monarch’s Way through beautiful woodland.  This was very pleasant, as the hot sun had broken through by this time.  Taking a permissive path we finally turned down a back road into North Cerney and back to the Pub where some of us had a very welcome drink in the pretty shaded garden.
