On a cloudy morning 17 Ramblers set off from Seven Springs on a 6-mile circular walk.

 After keeping left at the roundabout we went up the lane past Windmill Farm, onto the Cotswold Way to Hartley Hill. At the top we continued around the escarpment, stopping for a break to enjoy the splendid panoramic views over Cheltenham and Cleeve Hill.

 We reached the Trig point at 293 metres above sea level, then took the side track down to the Devil’s Chimney. We continued along the Cotswold Way, following a track down past the rear of Salterley Grange to reach the National Star Centre at Ullenwood. We went up the road past the Golf Course to cross the busy A436 into small car park opposite and an adjacent field where we stopped for lunch.

 Afterwards we headed up South Hill to Cuckoo Pen Barn Farm, and followed a track through woods and fields with more beautiful views, passing the Long Barrow on the way to Coberley. From Coberley we walked along a field path back to Seven Springs.

View over Cheltenham with Gloucester Cathedral just about visible in the distance and the Malvern Hills and the Black Mountains beyond.
