Fourteen walkers gathered at Temple Guiting village hall on what promised to be a dry day (after the rain of New Year’s Eve)  They warmed up on the climb out of the village and into a stiiff breeze at the top as they crossed some sheep pasture. Beyond Pinnock Farm a sheltered bank provided an opportunity for a drinks stop and then over the only stile of the day onto a sunken footpath.

The lane we joined opened up to views across to Bredon and Dumbleton Hills.  “There might be an occasional car” the leader said – they stopped for about six in five minutes! Then onto the Farmcote Estate along a bridleway and yet another hill (they thought there was only one at the start) and to lunch in the shelter of Guiting Wood.

The return route crossed the wood and after the challenge of a recently fallen tree they came into the parkland close to Kineton and then on to largely stone tracks, back to their starting point and the final descent into the village.
