On a rain free morning 29 members did a five mile walk, starting from Bourton on the Water to follow the River Eye from Lower Slaughter to Upper Slaughter.
The route out was a footpath from Landsdowne, to cross the old railway embankment and follow the path across the playing fields. After carefully crossing the A429 we walked on The Monarchs Way, going uphill across 2 fields, and then briefly on a country road before going downhill to reach Lower Slaughter, and take The Wardens Way footpath alongside the river. The water level was high and the mill wheel was turning.
On reaching Upper Slaughter, we did a circular walk around the village, stopping for a coffee break in the village square.
Leaving, we crossed the River Eye on the footbridge alongside the ford (closed to traffic as the water is deeper than usual, and fast flowing) and then a path across 3 fields towards Copse Hill. Here we turned right to return to Lower Slaughter, briefly on The Macmillan Way, and then a level walk back on The Wardens Way, returning to Bourton on Station Road.
