It was one of the hottest days of the year, 24th July, but by 7pm the temperature was very pleasant.

Eight Ramblers walked downhill through the pretty village of Great Rissington. Just after passing the church and bearing right into a private road, they reached the entrance to the Windrush Agricultural Estate, passing the front of two houses to reach a gate following a line of firs for about 150 metres.

Continuing, they crossed a couple of fields turning left into a wood bordering the River Windrush where they followed the clearly defined path with the river on the right. The other side of this beautiful, gentle flowing river is the Sherborne Estate wetlands and water meadows.

Passing through a gate and crossing a footbridge leaving the wood, behind they continued through fields and followed tracks with stunning views, including a hot air balloon heading back to Great Rissington.

A well deserved refreshing drink at the Lamb Inn was enjoyed.
