On Sunday 2nd June, 18 Ramblers went on a 5 mile walk in the Painswick area. The walk started in the Walker’s car park close to the famous Rococo Garden heading towards the town centre before turning away and entering beautiful countryside.
We walked across several undulating fields with fine views before a stretch of country lane walking, followed by a further walk over fields and through woodland before our lunch stop with Painswick Beacon visible close by.
Passing the strangely - named Spoonbed Farm, we headed via footpaths beside the B4073 to the foot of Painswick Beacon. After a stiff climb to the top of the Beacon, the walk descended through the edge of a golf course and woodland to the starting point.
At the start of the walk, the weather was bright and warm, but sadly, it rapidly deteriorated until by the time we reached the foot of the Beacon, it was raining heavily. As a result, we could not enjoy the magnificent views we would have had in clear weather.
