Nineteen members visited the henge at Avebury and admired the stone circle before joining the Wessex Ridgeway which led us up a steady climb to the Ridgeway proper.
After a quick drink break we headed back downhill to the start of the Ridgeway at Overton Hill and the Sanctuary, a Neolithic henge which predates the one at Avebury, but is linked to it by an avenue of stones.
Following the course of the River Kennet took us to the West Kennet Long Barrow and Silbury Hill and then back to the start for welcome coffee and cakes.
