April 22nd Kingscote

On Sunday April 22nd, 17 members and a guest had an enjoyable 6 and a half mile walk on a dry warm spring day from Kingscote with extensive country side views throughout. The route to Horsley started with going down to Binley Farm and then up to an attractive woodland path in Kingscote Wood, alive with bluebells and the smell of garlic plants. From the wood, we continued on a track on the top ridge, and then down a steep slope and up a woodland track to reach Horsley

In the village we visited St Martins Church, known as the 3 in 1 church, the adapted space inside being used for regular church services, but also by the local village school for assemblies etc. and by the local community for concerts, exhibitions, and many other activities.

The return route started on a narrow road, down Hartley Hill and a steep uphill on Hay Lane.
At the top we returned to footpaths, but first stopping for lunch before taking a fairly straight path and lane back to Kingscote via Hazlecote
