Cirencester Ramblers

November 18th Ampney Crucis

On Sunday 18th November, prior to the AGM, 24 ramblers set off for a 5-mile circular walk on a lovely fresh, bright morning. They left Ampney Crucis village hall and walked up through the street full of Cotswold stone cottages to Dudley Corner.

The group then followed the lane down towards Ampney St Mary, where they turned off in between the horse paddocks to Ampney St Peter. After admiring the gold painted post-box and the Old Pack Horse Inn (now a private house), they crossed the A417.

The walkers headed south up Charlham Lane to the farm house. From here they turned west onto a track which took them over the Ampney Brook to Driffield. They entered the village near Manor Farm, and then made their way back through Harnhill to the village hall for lunch, followed by the AGM.
