Cirencester Ramblers

October 28th Aldbourne

On Sunday 28th October eighteen members and guests enjoyed an 8 or 5½ mile walk from Aldbourne.

We left Aldbourne on the B4192 towards Swindon before turning off on a BOAT (Byway Open to All Traffic) to Upper Upham.  Passing over "The Giant's Grave" we stopped just  before Upper Upham in a hollow to shelter from the wind to enjoy a coffee break.

On reaching Upper Upham seven of the group returned to Aldbourne by BOATs on the shorter route.  The remaining walkers continued on BOATs across the Lambourn Downs through Shipley Bottom before the steep climb up Sugar Hill.  We returned to Aldbourne on a footpath passing the Bronze Age "Four Barrows" and enjoying the far ranging views of the Lambourn Downs.
