On the evening of Wednesday 20th June 15 members and 2 visitors met in the village of Aldbourne for a most enjoyable 4 mile walk in warm sunshine.
Leaving the duck pond behind we set off along the road to Hungerford, before turning left at Ford Farm and walking uphill onto the Downs, from where we enjoyed the beautiful views.
We then descended into the Secret Valley via Winchcombe Copse. Turning left we took a long gentle ascent to Pig’s Hill and the farm. We then took a lane down into the Valley, before ascending Green Hill, where we saw the start of the reddening sunset.
Our final descent took us across the gallops at Baydon Hill Farm, where we rejoined the road back into the village for a well deserved drink at the Blue Boar Inn on the village green.
One of the many far ranging views across the countryside
It's not long before we pause to admire another view
Crossing large fields we adopt single file to minimise damage to crops
A brief pause before we tackle the next hill
