Ten Cirencester Ramblers were joined by 4 members of the North Devon Ramblers for an 8.4 mile circular route from Mortehoe, along the coast to Lee Bay, returning across the downs through green fields and popular caravan sites.
The weather was changeable from the start, but we completed the walk and were resting in a local hostelry before the heavy rain came.
From Mortehoe, we took the coastal path heading North West to Morte Point, then East to Bull Point with some gruelling climbs and subsequent drops to coves and inlets on the North Devon Coast, including negotiating some rocks steps, gully and pools before arriving in Lee Bay.
After a well deserved lunch, we headed inland along the Borough Valley, then West towards Damage Barton with a steep 350ft climb, all of us were glad to complete.
After a short rest to catch our breath we headed west towards Easewell Farm with stunning views of the Devon coastline and local livestock.
Our sincere thanks to Maggi, Jane, Janice and Lizzy from North Devon Ramblers for leading a lovely walk.
