Cirencester Ramblers

May 9th South Cerney

22 walkers started from All Hallows Church South Cerney for a leisurely four mile evening ramble. After spending time looking at the beautiful carved head and foot of Christ, taken from a crucifix in Compostella dating from the 12th century, they walked on towards St Edwards College, a row of 12 almshouses founded for the widows of clergymen.

Under a beautiful blue sky the ramble continued past the disused railway line and along the Thames and Severn Canal. A stop was taken next to the Wildmoorway Lock and then the ramble carried on around a few lakes and back along the River Churn to Wildmoorway Lane. When back in South Cerney the return to the start was along the Bow Wow and then a well earned drink at the Eliot Arms.
